N’awlins

From Bourbon to beignets to hand grenades, New Orleans is one of my favorite cities because of its unique culture, food, southern hospitality and ability to throw a decent party. I have visited New Orleans once a year over the past few years because it is a great way to break up the seasonal depression months. During my most recent journey down south, I attended New Orleans’ hip hop and EDM Music Festival, BUKU Music + Arts Project. The unique venue is located on the Mississippi River and includes a stage called the “Float Den” which houses many of the floats used in the world famous Mardi Gras Parade. Continue reading

Lollapalooza

I have been looking forward to this past weekend since my first time at Lollapalooza last year. A three-day music festival in my favorite city (Chicago) is my Nirvana. Gulf Shores, AL

I recently ventured down to the bottom of Alabama to attend the Hangout Music Festival in Gulf Shores. Nearly two weeks later, I have finally recovered enough to write about it. The experience that combined a relaxing trip to the beach with the chaos of a music festival was for sure the highlight of my year thus far. Sadly, it also felt like the three shortest days of my life. Here is a breakdown of why this experience (as well as pretty much any other music festival) was worth sacrificing PTO, the 12 hour commute, and my liver:
